Emily N. Masalski
Ms. Masalski is serving her second term as an elected member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Board of Governors for Cook County and was elected by the Board to serve as ISBA Treasurer (2025-2026). She is on the ISBA Budget & Audit, Investments, Personnel, and Scope and Correlation committees. She served as ISBA Secretary (2024-2025).
Emily’s legal experience includes working as a government attorney in New York City nearly 20 years ago to rising through the ranks to law firm partnership in Chicago. She currently serves as Counsel - Sustainability & Trade for a global power management company, and handles regulatory compliance matters and helps drive environmental, health & safety (EHS) initiatives. Emily also manages a variety of North America and Mexico real estate matters, including the environmental permitting and construction vendor negotiations for the estimated $18.5 million dollar aerospace facility expansion in Orchard Park, New York. The project broke ground in September 2025.
Emily and her husband have two children (ages 13 & 10), a dog named Waffles, and together they coach a co-ed middle school soccer team. She is admitted to practice law in Illinois, New York, Connecticut, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
She previously served as CEO & Founding Partner of her own law firm, Hunter Masalski LLC and represented Fortune 500 clients in commercial litigation, environmental, OSHA, health & safety matters. She was a partner at the energy boutique law firm Rooney Rippie & Ratnaswamy LLP and a Principal at Deutsch, Levy & Engel, Chartered handling commercial litigation matters. She started her career as an agency attorney for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection, Wastewater Treatment Bureau in 2005.
Emily advocates for lawyers in all practice settings, access to justice, and important issues facing the public. She serves as an ISBA At-Large Delegate in the American Bar Association (ABA) House of Delegates (2017-present). Emily is an Illinois Bar Foundation (IBF) Diamond Champion and serves on the IBF Warren Lupel Lawyers Care Fund committee. She is also active in the following organizations:

She is a passionate Illini fan and received her B.S. in Agricultural and Environmental Communications & Education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her J.D. and Environmental Law Certificate from Pace University School of Law (now Elizabeth Haub School of Law), where she served as an Articles Editor for the PACE ENVIRONMENTAL LAW REVIEW and Student Bar Association President. Emily drafted the Lactation Accommodation in Airports Act in Illinois (410 ILCS 140/), which became law in 2015 and requires reasonable access to lactation rooms in airports.
